//SYNOPSIS//

They are four best friends who’ve shared joy and secrets, love and memories, and since the beginning, Lorna was the one who held them all together. Then, the unthinkable happens. During a storm, Lorna is swept out to sea, leaving the three survivors with nothing to cling to except grief and questions. How did this happen? Why was Lorna in such danger, and was she alone? When her body is never found, the mystery deepens. Did Lorna really die? Or has she made a crazy bid for freedom? Inevitably, the dynamic of the four friends’ everyday life is changed forever. But the pain and confusion go deepest for Jackie, who must face her feelings of unrequited love for Lorna’s boyfriend as well as try to put to rest her own questions about Lorna’s presumed death. Does one of the boys in their inner circle know more than he’s letting on? Will Lorna’s fate ever be discovered? And how will Jackie become her own person in the wake of a wound that may never close? In this beautifully written, intense novel, one girl has to travel through loss and disillusionment to make sense of her own future.

// MY THOUGHTS //

Today is my day to catch up on writing reviews! Finally, I know, I know! I seriously need to get better at this whole blogging thing! I love doing it, but never remember to update this darn thing! But anywho on to the book review!

This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review, thank you Merit Press once again! Ya’ll are way to kind to me!

Local Girl swept away follows the life of a young impressionable Jackie and her two friends after the presumed death of their best friend and leader of the pack, Lorna. Lorna was like an enigmatic force among everyone. She was the life of every party even if it wasn’t her own. When Lorna slips off the breakwater during a horrendous storm she is lost forever, swept out to sea, leaving her friends behind broke, confused and ultimately alone.

Jackie tries her best to move on after the death of her best friend, but it’s a difficult feat, especially when she’s growing closer to Lorna’s boyfriend, a boy Jackie has loved her entire life. But as things move forward and the cloudy skies open up, Jackie realizes everything isn’t quite as it seems. I really can’t say too much more without throwing spoilers out there, but this was a very suspenseful book! I literally couldn’t put it down for the life of me.

I was intrigued from the very first page and had a lot of suspicions brewing in my mind and let me just say all of my suspicions were WAY off, the twists and turns this novel took were freaking amazing! Local Girl Swept Away is darkly intriguing with twists that will have you literally OMG’ing! 😉 If you’re a fan of Pretty Little Liars, you’ll love this book like I did!
